Modern and Classic Apple Aura

The Aura of Apple.

I think my home is an Apple home.
Not by some deliberate decision, it just happens to be. I don’t remember how it all happened, but I do remember waking up on a random day thinking: “Everything here matches.”

Some people say Apple is too “mainstream.” I don’t know if that’s completely true. I’ve always felt that people rarely dive fully into the Apple tech world. From my perspective, everyone seems to have Windows computers, and those who have Apple products replace their current units as if they have the shelf life of a glass of milk. There’s this idea that apple products need to be replaced with the latest tech annually. This is a misconception, in my opinion, that may be by design — from Apple itself. I could be wrong, I’m just a guy writing a in a blog..

One reason many people prefer other computers over Apple (besides the huge price difference) is the ability to easily swap out components and upgrade parts. That is true, but when the home’s ecosystem is connected with all Apple products, there’s just something in the air, as they say. My iPhone and MacBook are merely the “small gadgets” I take with me. From working on research projects from home, to online shopping; from doing online classes on my iMac, to training on my Mac mini based flight simulator, everything works in one small world.

I’m somewhat of a retrophile. Maybe one day I'll write about it. My home is full of old tech — taken apart, restored, modified, or just sitting around. Retro tech fascinates me. Classic products like iPods, modified with modern upgrades, have a special vibe to them. I don’t really go anywhere without my iPod. My favorite part of taking it places, however, is coming back home and putting it back on the docking station where it sits. I always pause and admire what I’ve built. [my mess.]

“The space isn’t perfect, polished, or set up to impress anyone but it definitely is unique”

I also think part of the meaning behind all this is personal. The space isn’t perfect, polished, or set up to impress anyone but it definitely is unique. Plants and books fill many spaces. A mix of old and new tech- modern nostalgia is in the air here. The devices and the setup are more than tech; they’re small landmarks in my apartment. The old hardware, the modern Macs, it all forms a story. It’s lived-in, familiar, and personal in a way that makes people intrigued when they are over.

No grand point or deeper philosophy is hiding behind any of this. It’s just a cool setup that i thought i should share. It’s a space that feels connected and intentional without me ever planning it. The tech, the retro pieces, the modern ecosystem; it all blends into something that’s interesting to exist in.

And I like it that way.
